The word is yours
The Territorial Cohesion Agency goes on with the publication of the section “The Words of Cohesion” and invites citizens to express themselves and participate in the digital glossary by proposing a word related to Cohesion Policy to be explained on social channels.
“The Words of Cohesion” is the section designed by the Territorial Cohesion Agency to explain Cohesion Policy vocabulary, simplifying the language, revealing the meaning of acronyms and, eventually, leading to “jargon-free” communication.
Word after word, starting mid-July 2018, the Agency has been building and sharing its digital glossary via Twitter and Instagram and its website, and now aims to directly involve citizens in the creation of the dictionary. To such end, the Agency calls online users through the “The word is yours” project: a series of messages, published via social media once a month, through which the Agency asks people/users what term they would like to be explained.
Participating in the “call for words” is simple: just follow the Twitter profile @AgenziaCoesione and the Instagram account @agenzia_coesione, comment on the post published by indicating an unclear term or acronym found in the communications on European funds but difficult to understand. Alternatively, you can launch a word by posting a message containing the mention of the Agency and the hashtag #atelaparola. Among the words thus received, those most often proposed will be addressed first and clarified through the publication of a special graphic under the heading “The Words of Cohesion”. If different words are requested by users for the same number of times, priority will be given to most topical words linked, for instance, to events in progress or to emerging themes on the agenda of public debates.
The Cohesion Glossary is thus intended to become a collective work that is not only based on the Agency’s communication strategy, aimed at making Cohesion Policy clearer and more comprehensible, but also on citizens’ direct expression of their needs for understanding. The concept underlying the project responds to the absolute need, for those dealing with European Funds, to help the public read a complex and detailed issue, providing useful tools for full awareness and enhanced ability for in-depth comprehension and analysis. Social channels thus become a tool to counter ambiguities, detect and understand fake news and contribute to the clarity of public information.
